Reader, I am writing this week’s newsletter after what was officially my most intense travel stretch of the year. Fresh off speaking at the Clinic Boss Summit in Toronto, I immediately hopped on a plane to Vancouver, WA for four incredible days at the Wellness Center Creators Retreat, hosted by Kendall Hagensen and her team at Vancouver Wellness Studio. From there, I departed from Portland on Friday, caught the early bird flight to Atlanta to join the Jane team for their Unwind with Jane event at Pelvicon, and managed to land back home on Saturday just in time to catch the closing day at the golf club. When you sit down and quantify the sheer logistics of a week like that, the numbers look a little wild:
Community Spotlight: Holistik Health is Hiring!I also wanted to give a massive shout-out to Sumitra and Liza, two incredible clinic owners I recently had the pleasure of connecting with. Last week, they officially opened the doors to their brand new integrative clinic, Holistik Health, located in Colwood, just outside of Victoria, BC. They have built a beautiful, collaborative space focused on a true whole-person approach. Their multidisciplinary clinic brings together massage therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, manual osteopathy, athletic therapy, and clinical counselling all under one roof. As they continue to expand their services, Sumitra and Liza are actively looking to hire a Physiotherapist to join their team. If you are a PT based on the West Coast, or if you're looking to make a move to the Victoria area and want to work in a supportive environment designed for comprehensive, evidence-based care, this is a fantastic opportunity. You can learn more about their vision and reach out to them directly at holistikhealth.ca. The ROI of Impact vs. The Clinical Hamster WheelIf you looked at this week purely through a traditional clinical lens, it made zero sense on paper. If I had spent those 50+ hours in the clinic treating patients back-to-back at my standard hourly rate, I would have generated a predictable, guaranteed chunk of revenue. Navigating airport delays, moving across three time zones, and sleeping in hotel rooms isn't nearly as "efficient" on a daily billing ledger as staying planted behind a treatment table. Yet, the return on this trip was completely priceless. After 14 years as a physiotherapist and clinic owner, I spent a long time believing that my worth was strictly tied to the number of patient slots filled on my daily schedule. But trading physical hours for dollars creates a hard ceiling, not just on your income, but on your energy and your capacity for impact. Over the past week, I had the privilege of connecting with clinicians, clinic owners, and healthcare leaders from every imaginable modality, physiotherapists, pelvic health specialists, chiropractors, occupational therapists, and mental health professionals. We talked through the exact financial pain points that keep healthcare pros trapped: clinical burnout, rising overhead, lack of financial literacy, and the constant anxiety of not knowing if they're saving enough to ever step away. Helping a fellow clinician realize that they don't have to trade their physical energy for the next 30 years brings a level of fulfillment that treating 40 patient cases a week simply cannot match. The 5-Minute "Clinical Freedom Ratio" AuditTo give you something practical to walk away with today, I want you to run a quick 3-step audit on your own career right now. Grab your phone or a napkin and calculate these three metrics: 1. Calculate Your Clinical Reliance Percentage Take your annual active clinical billings (hours spent physically treating patients) and divide it by your total gross personal income: Clinical Reliance % = (Active Clinical Billings/ Total Annual Income) x100
2. Identify Your Time-Buyback Hours Look at your schedule for this upcoming week. Identify 3 to 5 hours spent on tasks that do not directly generate high revenue or bring you deep fulfillment (e.g., late-night charting, administrative tasks, or manual scheduling).
3. Establish Your "First Asset" Bridge To lower your Clinical Reliance %, you don't need to quit your job or sell your clinic tomorrow. You simply need to start replacing active clinical hours with passive equity.
Every dollar that compounds in the background lowers your dependency on trading your physical energy for cash. If you want a step-by-step roadmap on how to structure your personal cash flow, audit your clinical overhead, and start investing as a healthcare professional, check out my free resources at Financially Fulfilled Pro. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! Time to finally unpack the suitcase and recharge for the week ahead. @financiallyfulfilledpro and Certified Financial Counsellor CFC™ Do you get value from these weekly emails? |
I'm Robin, a practicing physiotherapist and Certified Financial Counsellor (CFC). For 14 years I've worked clinically while quietly building a multi-million-dollar estate through index funds, rental properties, and private lending. Every Sunday I send one email to 600+ healthcare pros: real numbers from my own portfolio, tax strategies that actually work, and the kind of advice your bank's commission-paid advisor will never give you.
Reader, This weekend, I stepped away from the clinic and the golf course to attend the Clinic Boss Summit in Toronto on Friday and Saturday. Yesterday, Katie joined me as the designated unpaid social media rep, and the energy in the room was phenomenal. Over the two days, we reconnected with familiar faces and met plenty of new ones, both online and in person. We had a great meetup with the team from Jane who sponsored the event, and I had the opportunity to make some fantastic new contacts...
Reader, This week has been a wonderfully quiet one on our front. Katie and I hosted both sets of parents and my brother and his family for a night in, where I finally got to show my father-in-law, Randy, how to make authentic massaman and green curry from scratch. On Saturday, while Katie's parents were still visiting, we headed out to walk through Supercrawl in downtown Hamilton. The Sunday Roast- Iron Cow Public House Today consisted of a round of golf (#54) followed by the opening weekend...
Reader, Happy Labour Day Weekend! It has been a relatively calm and grounding week in our household. Yesterday, Katie and I spent the afternoon celebrating our nephew Orion's second birthday; it was a lovely time. His mom is an expert pastry chef, so let's just say we left the event with a doggie bag of goodies. I also managed to sneak in three rounds of golf this week before the fall weather officially takes over. Tonight, we are capping off the weekend with a big family dinner with Mom,...
