โ Hey Reader! It is a question that's been gnawing at me, a question I think we all wrestle with at some point: Am I doing this right? You know that feeling, right? That little voice in your head that whispers doubts when you scroll through Instagram and see everyone else's seemingly perfect lives, their thriving businesses, their effortless success? It's a feeling I've been battling lately, especially as I've been working to grow my own platform and help more healthcare professionals like you live life on your terms by making money work for you. I see the incredible things others are building, and sometimes, I wonder if what I'm doing is enough. If I'm making the impact I want to make. That's why I've been a VIP member of Rockstar Real Estate for a while now. And honestly, it's been one of the best investments I've made. And no, it's not because I'm planning to become a property tycoon (though, hey, never say never, right? ๐). It's because it's a room filled with people who are constantly striving for more, who are pushing boundaries, who are building something real.
So, this week, I had an in-person coaching call (could have done it online, but you don't get the same connection) with Tom Karadza. And let me tell you, it was intense. I went into that call expecting a fairly standard discussion about real estate, maybe some tips on property investment. Instead, I got an hour and a half of focused, high-level business strategy. It wasn't just about property values and mortgages; it was about building a business from the ground up. We talked about the importance of crafting marketing that clearly communicates value, the art of effective sales that genuinely connects with people, and the crucial lesson that you can't please everyone (and you shouldn't even try). It was a masterclass in business and in life Tom didn't just give me advice; he challenged me. He pushed me to question my assumptions, to dig deeper into my "why," and to see my potential in a whole new light. And honestly, it was terrifying and exhilarating all at once. It was a kick in the pants I didn't know I needed. I walked away from that call with a fire in my belly and a game plan. A game plan that I'm implementing starting... tomorrow. Usually, I'd be all over this on the weekend (to Katie's dismay, as it would interrupt us from shopping for a new couch๐ ), fueled by that initial motivation. But this weekend was dedicated to something else. Something that feels equally terrifying and exhilarating. Yes, I'm diving deep into the world of finance, preparing for the Accredited Financial Counselor Canada (AFCC) exam. It's been a grueling process. Late nights, endless study sessions, flashcards that have replaced my dreams with spreadsheets. Even Katie's starting to think I've developed a thing for Gemma, my Gemini AI chatbot, who's been my tireless (and oddly enthusiastic) study buddy. But it's not just about the letters after my name (although it would give Teresa some serious bragging rights at her next thrifting expedition and exercise class). If you don't know, immigrant parents LOVE talking about their kids' pursuits. It's about something deeper. See, I've learned that even though my financial literacy is earned, even though I've seen the struggles firsthand and helped countless people overcome them, credentials still matter. They open doors, they build trust, and they allow me to serve you better. The last 3.5 years have taught me that you do not need a personal finance degree to be literate, but people, associations, schools, and my peers will still dismiss my knowledge base (even though it's earned) without having certain credentials. It's a frustrating reality, but it's a reality nonetheless. So, a few weeks ago, I decided to challenge the exam and learn as much as I can to do well in the exam (and yes, I'm asking for some serious good vibes for tomorrow! ๐๐ฝ). But it's not just about passing a test. It's about taking that knowledge, that credibility, and using it to grow my business, to expand my reach, and to provide even more value to you. To help you achieve your financial dreams. Here's the connection: just like Tom's real estate wisdom applies to any business, the financial principles I'm learning apply to any aspect of our lives. It's about strategy, it's about growth, it's about delivering value, and it's about having the courage to pursue your full potential, even when it's scary. So, what does this all mean for you? It means I'm committed to pushing myself, to learning, to growing, so I can be the best possible resource for you. It means I'm not afraid to challenge the status quo and do things differently. And it means I'm here to support you on your own journey, whatever that may look like. This week, I'm facing my fears (it's been 13 years since my last MC exam), I'm embracing the challenge, and I'm pushing myself to be better. And I hope it inspires you to do the same. So, as you go about your day today and enter a new week, I want you to ask yourself a few questions:
Don't let fear dictate your life. Don't settle for "good enough." Push yourself, learn, grow, and create a life that's you're proud of. This week, I challenge you to take one small step towards that thing that scares you. Just one step. You might be surprised at where it leads. And hey, send me a message and let me know what you choose. I'd love to cheer you on! Hey Reader, it is officially December! The tree is (probably) up, the clinic is getting chaotic with the "use-it-or-lose-it" benefit crowd, and we are sprinting toward the finish line of 2025. If youโve been feeling like the economy is "bad" even though the data says itโs "fine," you aren't alone. Economists call this the Vibecession, where our feelings about money are worse than the reality. But according to the massive Wealthsimple "Big Ideas 2025" Report that just dropped, the bad vibes are...
Reader, did you survive the Black Friday madness? If your inbox looks anything like mine, itโs still recovering from the absolute barrage of "LAST CHANCE" emails. I hope you managed to navigate the noise, maybe used that Return on Time (ROT) filter we talked about, and didn't buy a toaster just because it has Wi-Fi. ๐ I ended up purchasing a doorbell camera and a floodlight/camera (for a rental property), more on that below. TD's Inside Investing Studio Itโs been a whirlwind week on my end....
Reader, if your inbox is anything like mine right now, itโs currently being held hostage by a relentless barrage of โEARLY ACCESS!โ, โDOORBUSTERS!โ, and โONCE IN A LIFETIME DEALS!โ emails. It seems Black Friday has morphed from a single day into an entire month-long endurance sport. As we sat down for breakfast this morning (after a chilly walk with Fernie, winter is definitely coming!), Katie asked if there was anything we actually needed this year (aside from a new couch, glass tupperware,...
